Courteney Cox Opens Up About the New 'Scream' Movie: 'It's Nuanced'

Courteney Cox is talking Scream, as well as her incredible career.

On appearing in Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 video for “Dancing in the Dark,” and meeting with the director, Brian De Palma: “They both had the flu, or colds, and they weren’t feeling great. And when one of them said, ‘OK, so when Courtney goes up onstage,’ I went, ‘Oh, what?!’”

On the new Scream movie: “We’re not making the fifth of something. This is an absolute, brand-new relaunch of the franchise. It’s nuanced, and it’s funny, and you have no idea who the killer is.”

On life at home with her daughter, Coco, 17: “She says to me, ‘Mom, no one tells their mother the things I tell you.’ And it’s true. She knows she can trust me.”

On Elton John showing up up at her home, thanks to friend Ed Sheeran: “When Elton John comes to your house, and you have to play ‘Tiny Dancer,’ and he’s sitting next to you. And you just learned it maybe 30 minutes before!…‘Is it all right if I have Elton over for dinner?’ and I’m like, ‘What?! Yes, it is OK! My God!’ That was a thrill of my lifetime.”
