JoJo Siwa Opens Up About Being Called a 'Gay Icon'

JoJo Siwa is addressing all the attention.

The 18-year-old star and her Dancing With the Stars partner Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday (November 4).

During JoJo‘s appearance, the star opened up about being a longtime fan of the show – and being born the same year as the show first premiered.

“It’s wild to me. I look at people who are called gay icons – you, Lady Gaga, Freddie Mercury – my favorite people. And to be in that category at 18 is just insane, and it’s just because of who I am. It feels amazing,” she said.

She also explained a moment where she told her dancers what her concerts are like, and she said: “Think of it as like 4 year olds, and gay 19 year olds. It’s like Kidz Bop meets Pride fest. That’s my concert.”

JoJo also said she’s so happy with the outcome of her coming out, and being part of a same-sex couple on DWTS: “Hearing adults say I wish I had someone like you when I was little, that makes me know that the kids that are little have someone like me.”

She also commented for the first time on her split from her girlfriend.
