Lourdes Leon Needed Independence from 'Control Freak' Mom Madonna After High School

Lourdes Leon is opening up about her relationship with mom Madonna.

In a new movie, the 24-year-old model talked about finding her independence from the 63-year-old entertainer after graduating high school.

I think my mom saw all these other kids of famous people, and she was like, ‘My kids are not going to be like this,’” Lourdes shared with Interview Magazine.

“Also, I feel like if your parents pay for things, then it gives them leverage over you,” Lourdes continued. “My mom is such a control freak, and she has controlled me my whole life. I needed to be completely independent from her as soon as I graduated high school.”

In an interview with Vogue earlier this year, Lourdes revealed that she paid for her own college tuition and now lives in the Bushwick neighborhood in Brooklyn to avoid all the glitz of Hollywood.

Lourdes Leon also recently reacted to people’s perception of her as a rich kid.
