Lala Kent Says She Feels Disrespected by Demi Lovato's 'California Sober' Term

Lala Kent is opening up about why she first called out Demi Lovato for her “California Sober” mentality when it came to her drug use.

“You’re not sober. If you are drinking or you’re smoking weed, you’re not sober,” the 31-year-old Vanderpump Rules star previously said over the summer, after Demi had shared her new approach earlier this year.

Now, Lala is opening up about the issue once again, during her recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

“It’s not a real thing. [It's] not a real thing,” Lala insisted on the program, and added that the “term is dry, and I’m obviously in the program.”

Lala herself has been sober since 2018.

“I’m with a lot of incredible men and women who do everything in their power to never pick up any sort of substance,” she went on. “So to hear someone say, ‘I’m California sober,’ it doesn’t sit right with me. Because I’m a person who only drank and smoked weed and almost lost my entire life. So, I don’t like it.”

Lala adds, “The smallest amount of anything could potentially — you could fall off the wagon.”

“So for me, I just think … just don’t disrespect people who work really hard to never pick up anything and remain in their right frame of mind at all times.”
