Texas Tech G Mac McClung to remain in NBA Draft

Texas Tech star guard Mac McClung has elected to forgo his remaining college eligibility and remain in the 2021 NBA Draft.

McClung, the Big 12 newcomer of the year, acknowledged his decision over social media on Monday morning.

“I would like to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love,” McClung wrote on Twitter. “I also would like to thank my family and the entire Texas Tech coaching staff for believing in me and pushing me to new heights. Red Raider Nation, thank you for the best year of my life. I am lucky to call myself a Red Raider.

“With that being said, I have decided to chase my dreams and stay in the NBA Draft!”

In his junior season at Texas Tech, McClung averaged 15.5 points on 41.9 percent shooting in 29 games (all starts). He scored 20 or more points in 10 games.

In two seasons at Georgetown, the 6-foot-2 McClung appeared in 50 games (49 starts). He averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
