Ariana Grande’s steamy new song 34+35 has brought 69-ing back into the fore.

The pop superstar’s sex-positive lyrics are poised to make the sex position more popular as people all over the world do the maths.

However 69-ing, while infamous, isn’t known for being the most comfortable sex position out there.

This is because it involves one partner perching on top of the other, top-to-tail style, while each stimulates the other orally.

If that sounds like a neckache waiting to happen to you, then you’re not alone.

Jessica Leoni, sex and relationship expert with dating site IllicitEncounters.com, says: ‘Best of luck to Ariana because the 69 sex position is not the easiest to pull off successfully.

‘It takes multi-tasking to a whole new level and can often leave both people in a relationship feeling a little short-changed because they cannot work out whether to concentrate on their own pleasure or their partner’s while doing it.

‘A 69 or 69ing is the act of two people simultaneously giving each other oral sex.

‘To do it, you need to lie alongside your partner so that you are each facing each other’s genitals.

‘It gets its name because of the shape of the 6 and 9 digits – think of each partner’s head as the bubbly part of the 6 and 9 respectively.

‘If you can achieve a shared climax while 69-ing I take my hat off to you. I tend to find it works best if you simply succumb to the moment and concentrate on your own pleasure rather than your partner’s.

‘It might sound selfish but if you surrender to the oral pleasure your partner is giving you and really concentrate on your own orgasm, you should both get the result you are looking for.’

If you want to try a slightly more comfortable variation of the 69, give the Bobbing for Apples position a go.

It’s basically the same position but you and your partner lie on your sides so one isn’t sat on top of the other.

For extra neck support, rest your heads on a pillow.
