Olivia Wilde Set To Direct & Co-Write Female-Led Film Project at Marvel

Marvel Studios just revealed that they’ve tapped Olivia Wilde to direct a brand new, female-led film in the MCU.

Deadline reports that Olivia closed a deal to develop a secret project and direct the film that is rumored to be centered on Spider-Woman.

The project will also see Olivia as the writer alongside her partner Katie Silberman with Amy Pascal producing. Rachel O’Connor will exec produce.

Spider-Woman has been featured in several iterations throughout the Marvel franchise, and saw Peter Parker’s girlfriends, Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy and Earth 616′s Jessica Drew.

The female-led project follows Black Widow, directed by Cate Shortland and starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh and Rachel Weisz. See when the film will debut here!

It was just recently announced that Marvel had also hired Nia DaCosta to helm the Captain Marvel sequel with Brie Larson.
