The Weeknd has style: Explore The Weeknd's breathtakingly chic home

You could call it the ultimate Weeknd getaway...

Abel Tesfaye – better known as artist The Weeknd – has put his L.A. home up for sale for £20 million, offering us a rare glimpse at his minimalist decorating style.

The ultra-private, nine-bedroom estate is tucked away in an exclusive gated community in the celebrity enclave of Hidden Hills in L.A.’s far western suburbs. Aside from a modern and stylish interior, the sprawling house's stand-out features include a wine room and neon-lit car garage, an eye-poppingly bright-orange basketball court (which can be spotted from Google Earth, apparently) and a seriously stylish pool house.

Singer-songwriter-producer The Weeknd (whose hits include “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills”) paid just £14.5 million for this property less than three years ago, and has now added a hefty £5 million to the price tag.

The 13,500-square-foot home is accessed via a private road, and is surrounded by three acres of manicured gardens, and towering redwood trees and tall hedgerows for privacy.

Inside the L.A. mansion are nine bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, an open plan kitchen, stylish dining room, living room and home office, a home cinema, bar, wine room, a home gym and yoga room, and a five-car parking garage. The property also comes with a swimming pool and spa, 8-stall barn, a 1,200 square foot detached guest cottage, and a basketball court.

A security gate and driveway leads to the main home’s concrete and grass parking area.

A double-height lobby opens to a voluminous main entrance with a modern, sweeping staircase, steel-framed glass doors, a grand piano and modern art.

Off this main entrance hall are the formal living and dining spaces, all featuring the same calm palette of white walls, cream furnishings, warm woods and black accents.

The interior design has a minimalist, almost Scandinavian look and feel, with sleek white walls, high ceilings, and wide-plank wood floors. The rooms are all large and airy with huge, black-framed glass windows and doors.

The open-plan family room features a modern fireplace and TV, and flows into the patio areas outside.

Nearby is a glass, climate-controlled illuminated wine room.

If you thought the wine room's lighting was a bit flash, wait until you see the light-up garage. The five-car garage has LED lighting strips embedded into the high-gloss floor, which can be lit up in three different neon lights; purple, blue and green.

This space was built to accommodate The Weeknd's rotating car collection—he’s currently said to own a 618 hp McLaren P1 hypercar, a Lamborghini Aventador SV roadster, a new Bentley Mulsanne and a classic 1980s Porsche 911.

Across the back garden is an open-air pool house with outdoor fireplace, perched above a zero-edge swimming pool and spa.

The raised pool house also has a heated Jacuzzi bath, an lush patio spaces at either end, including one with a large outdoor kitchen and barbecue area.

Discreetly tucked behind the swimming pool and pool house are a large barn a full-sized basketball court, slightly raised on the hill.

The barn has eight stalls for horses, but it's currently being used as a home gym, with exercise equipment, comfy sofas and a ping-pong table. There's also a two-bedroom, 1,200-square-feet guest cottage.
