Chris Evans Used to Have Panic Attacks on Set That Almost Made Him Quit Acting

Chris Evans is opening up about the panic attacks he used to have on set and how they almost led him to quit acting.

The 38-year-old actor looked back at his career in the latest episode of THR‘s Awards Chatter podcast with Scott Feinberg.

Chris opened up about how it took a long time to be taken seriously as an actor and how most people considered his films to be bad ones. He said, “There was a period of time where you start thinking, ‘Man, I can’t make a good movie. I don’t know what it is. … I wonder how many chances I’m gonna get at this.’”

While most of Chris‘ misfires were wide releases that got lots of attention, he also had smaller movies like 2007′s Sunshine that were critically acclaimed. He joked, “Nobody sees my good movies.”

Chris says that when he started to film Puncture in 2010, he started having panic attacks.

“It was the first time I started having mini panic attacks on set,” he said. “I really started to think, ‘I’m not sure if this [acting] is the right thing for me, I’m not sure if I’m feeling as healthy as I should be feeling.’”

Thankfully, right after this is when Chris landed the role of Captain America and his career really took off from that point!

In another recent interview, Chris opened up about the bad haircut he gave his dog during quarantine.
