Ford vs Ferrari

Roaring to home release, Ford v Ferrari arrives on Blu-Ray and digital HD this week.

The film is based on the true story of visionary car designer Carrol Shelby, played by Matt Damon, and the eccentric British-born driver Ken Miles, played by Christian Bale.

The story follows Henry Ford II, who hires Shelby and Miles to beat the Ferrari racing team in a 24 hour race, after the founder of Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari, insults and humiliates the car making mogul.

From here we see the special friendship Carrol and Ken have together as they navigate Ford’s corporate bureaucracy, their passion for racing, and family life to the finish line.

The home release transfer looks great, presented in 1080p for the Blu-ray version and 2160p in the 4K offering sent us by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. What really shines is the audio soundtrack which is offered in DTS-HD Master Audio and justifies the sound editing Oscar award it just received this year.

Extras and features are a bit lacking however provides an interesting 8-part featurette that covers the production of the film but also back information on the real life story of Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles.

Overall this film is a great pickup and highly recommended for it’s exciting racing scenes, great acting, and the unforgettable sound that makes you wish you owned a Ford-GT.
