Jada Pinkett Smith Talks 'Betrayals of the Heart' in Will Smith Marriage
Jada Pinkett Smith says there have been “betrayals of the heart” in her relationship with husband Will Smith.
The 47-year-old Gotham actress and comedienne opened up about her personal life with the 50-year-old Aladdin star in a preview for an upcoming episode of Red Table Talk.
During the episode, Jada and her mother and co-host, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, sit down with couples therapist Esther Perel to discuss infidelity and betrayals in relationships.
“What are the alternatives to divorce?” Jada asks. “Everybody thinks as soon as you find out there’s been an affair you have to get a divorce.”
“I’m asked a lot about, ‘Is there infidelity in your relationship with Will?’” she continued. “And it’s like, ‘No, but there’ve been other betrayals of the heart that have been far bigger than I could even think in regards to an infidelity situation.’”
“I have to tell you: Me cheating on someone was more devastating than me being cheated on,” Jada Pinkett Smith added about relationships before Will Smith. “Yes, it actually taught me to forgive when I got cheated on because I understood. And what I understood most was it didn’t have anything to do with me.”
